Each summer, Remington runs a touring day camp for middle school and high school aged music students. Although its home base is on the beautiful shores of Lake Eerie in LaSalle, MI, the camp tours around the country, stopping in each location for one week at a time. Each day, the students meet from 9am to 1pm to study, compose, perform, and enjoy music. With lessons ranging from reading music to playing by ear and covering styles from hip-hop to rock and roll, the campers work there way through a diverse and well rounded curriculum that stresses the importance and potency of music as a timeless and limitless medium for self expression. At the end of the week, students will put on a concert performing the music of their choice. All instruments are welcome!
Interested in attending? Information about Remington Summer Music Camp 2009 will be available here soon! If you are interested in having the camp come to your town, or if you have any other questions/comments, email: managment@remingtonmusic.org
In addition to performing, Remington strives to encourage and assist the up and coming generations of musicians by running clinics and workshops. No matter the age or style of music the students are used to playing, Remington rearranges their own original music to fit the instrumentation and ability level of the student ensemble that they are working with. Then, with Remington playing along, students will have an opportunity to learn about the various elements and variables that are involved in performing and composing music. All clinics end with a concert and/or recording! Past clinics have included the Mamaroneck High School Jazz Band and the Portage, Indiana Middle School string orchestra. Length of clinics are flexible.
